Key Accountabilities
Define Technical & Quality Parameters. • Interpret marketing narrative briefs into detailed specification for supplier evaluation.
• Detail materials for use in design liaising with R&D to determine material suitability.
• Define with Mini Plant special package handling needs.
• Set quality limits and agree defect range boards in agreement with marketing.
Test all Packaging to Coty Package Test Protocol. • Send packaging to R&D for testing of weightloss, compatibility and stability.
• Test in UK packaging laboratory for all other tests as instructed in the test protocol.
• Non conforming test results to advised to be TPD director.
• Suppliers to be briefed on CTP requirements.
Meet agreed Timetable’s. • Draft packaging development timetable on MS project, and monitor milestones.
• Track supplier’s adherence to time-plan.
• Expedite marketing’s contribution to a successful result, - artwork and approvals.
Promote New Technology • Visit suppliers regularly keeping abreast of their latest innovations and investments.
• Follow market trends in packaging technology and advise on alternate applications.
Liaise with Marketing. • Ensure that marketing is fully informed of all TPD activity.
• Be an early warning system with solutions to problems as they arise.
Value Analysis & Cost Reduction. • Review package design and specification to ensure opportunities to reduce cost are not missed.
• Ensure value engineering is part of the feasibility cost, i.e. that the added costs of extra print and decoration is fully explained.
COMPETENCIES
Necessary role related knowledge, skills and experience at selection
• Educated to HNC / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Packaging/Technical discipline
• Experience in or knowledge of injection moulding.
• IT literate in word Excel, MS project.
• A second language an advantage
• Knowledge of machinery used in the filling of cosmetic componentry.
