Job Description

Salary up to c£50,000 basic + car allowance+ bonus up to 25%

Identify, develop and drive implementation of packaging technology solutions that add value to the business. Primarily responsible for packaging development initiatives, packaging development initiatives within the European zone, with some involvement and leadership of global initiatives.

Responsible for working with suppliers and other external resources to identify potential design and technology opportunities for packaging.
Responsible for developing and maintaining knowledge of critical consumer and operational issues, develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of customer strategies and specific requirements,recommending creative solutions with an appropriate balance of innovation, risk management, assured supply, speed and cost.
Create structured design briefs, preliminary business case assessments and final recommendations for dissemination, evaluation and concept development.
Work with suppliers, creative agencies and other sources to develop a range of creative options for packaging these options should range from the operational to inspirational and should challenge current thinking about packaging
Develop an understanding of relevant packaging issues and legislation, for use in the development process

Requirements
Degree level with a packaging or other scientific focus an additional focus on business is preferred
8+ years experience in a food, consumer goods or packaging industry environment
Sound understanding of packaging development processes experience with idea generation is important, as is the demonstrated ability to drive projects all the way to commercialization.
Experience with the concepts and science related to environmental sustainability is required experience with paperboard and plastics are desirable
Understanding of packaging manufacturing processes, print technology and design
A well organized project manager, with excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to be an effective member of multi-functional teams
A self-motivated and forward thinking approach
Ability to build and maintain solid working relationships at all levels and suppliers resulting in sound project delivery and customer satisfaction
Self-confidence to work in a high profile environment in conjunction with senior managers
