Salary up to c EUR 95,000 + excellent benefits package
The jobholder is responsible for implementation of packaging development initiatives and ensuring that these initiatives are efficiently and effectively managed across Europe. The role will create value within this global leader,identifying and implementing technology-based solutions that drive out non-value adding costs and that add profitable incremental volume.
• Proactively manage the process of new packaging innovation, development, introductions and improvements.
• Manage and guide the activities of the package development process.
• Review and recommendations on innovative new business opportunities outside of the present operating structures.
• Maintain and develop the technical skills and expertise in packaging design, functionality and application
Must have the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to create practical, innovative packaging solutions and when appropriate prototypes to provide working proof of concept. Proactively develop new packaging concepts and to provide creative solutions to consumer needs from technology possibilities.
Must be knowledgeable in the following areas
• Understanding of the way in which packaging can be used to build brand equity and consumer preference
• Understanding of packaging cost influences
• Understanding of environmental issues associated with the production and disposal of packaging materials.
• Understanding the basic relationships between package design, materials properties, environmental influences, and package performance.
In addition, must have specific subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas
• Packaging Materials Science
• Polymer chemistry, metallurgy, paper science or glass chemistry
• Package Manufacturing Technologies
• Plastic conversion technologies (injection moulding, blow moulding, film production, etc.)
• Metal forming technologies
• Glass forming technologies
• Package decoration technologies
• Package filling and handling techniques and their influence on package performance
• Package recycling technologies
• Package evaluation techniques
• Laboratory evaluation techniques
• Planning, organisation and execution of line trials and in-market tests, and the appropriate data gathering and analysis techniques.
• Package design
• Packaging regulatory requirements.
• Industrial packaging of liquid materials
