Job overview

? Manage the interfaces with packaging suppliers, product manufacturers within the Gift division to facilitate the smooth flow of packaging
? Ensure on time deliveries for all packaging projects for the division are met

• Together with Packaging Design Manager, take initial brief from buyer, collate info of range, and discuss all aspects required for 1st stage.

• Create and develop critical path to track divisional packaging projects from initial brief through to shipment and in-store launch

• Liaise with Packaging Design Manager in handover of technical packaging briefs for the division

• Screen samples before forwarding to buyer and PDM for approval


• Highlight any problems with product components & constructions, seek advice from PDM

• Responsible for filtering artwork between buyer & studio, ensuring
requirements are met. Seek advice from PDM if necessary

• Obtain correct samples for Photo shoots when required

• Approve press proof in conjunction with Buyer & Packaging Design
Manager


• Arrange proofing and ensure all relevant supplier base have samples
to match to. Chase suppliers on proofing samples in accordance with
critical path

• Manage order follow-through with suppliers, facilitate and prioritise
when necessary

• Ensure that all proofs/samples/documents are filed and accessible to
track progress

• Manage job lists and complete weekly status report, update and highlight impact on critical path in terms of deadlines/timescales to the buyer

• Contact suppliers to get their critical path, obtain artwork cut off dates in order to meet their deliveries (each supplier has different printing lead times)

• Weekly meetings with PDM to go through each project and status of each, identify where the peaks are and make studio aware as early as possible of bulk work coming through.

• Assist International/internet/press in obtaining artwork/images as required.

• Basic understanding of MAC Illustrator/Photoshop

• Administer the legal checks for brand names, order images as required for packaging.

Working relationships

• Develop good working relationships with Suppliers, and Print to ensure that projects are delivered in a timely and cost effective way

• Work closely with Buyers and Packaging Technical Design Manager, flagging potential problems/issues and propose solutions and recommendations as appropriate to minimise risk to the critical path

• Build a strong network of contacts both internally and externally


• Ensure required brief is met and delivered within time specified

• All critical paths are met and Buying teams are aware of timescales. Ensure CP is true to the brief and amend as required
• Consistency across generic referencing is controlled


• Consistency throughout artwork briefs, ensuring briefs are submitted within the time allowed

• Technical requirements are fulfilled

• All critical paths are met in the timescales set from initial brief


• Create and manage sample log for any action needed

• Ensure product components and construction fit according to the brief

• Manage job lists and track artwork submitted to ensure all suppliers receive artwork within timescales required.

• Ensure photographics studio is efficiently used, prevent cancellations
• Press proof signed off ready for production within the timescales specified


• All supplier print proofs signed off within the standards and timescales specified

• Deliveries are not delayed due to late orders from suppliers


• Successful management of job lists and tracker.


• Deadlines are kept, impact from changes are fully available and Buyer can act accordingly


• Ensure Suppliers critical paths are adhered to


• The Studio Manager is fully aware of future workload and can prepare accordingly


• Ensuring products and packaging are portrayed correctly throughout the Business

• Understanding or artwork restraints/capabilities

• Preventing against potential legal action and ensures Brand Identity is protected

• Maintain good relationships to ensure suppliers give us the best possible service

• Work together as a team in order to deliver the brief

• Maintain trust and support within contacts both internal and external.
