Job Description

Responsibilities
Co-ordinates all aspects of change to printed packaging components for the UK, IRE and European markets related to specific brand responsibility. Acts as the central point of contact for a packaging change liaising with all project stakeholders and ensuring changes occur within Regulatory and Legal constraints and timelines.

Provide full administration support to the Packaging & Artwork Team. Preparation of new artwork changes through Artwork Design Agencies and manufacturing in a timely manner to achieve key deadlines for new pack introduction.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES

Operational Requirements

• Maintaining records of artwork changes.

• Proof reading to ensure that artwork & proofs are correct when issued to appropriate departments and affiliates.

• To participate in the provision of artwork for Global Consumer brands covering European affiliate requirements and meeting Global Manufacturing source criteria.

• Liaison with marketing, production, warehouse, distribution and storage to ensure all technical packaging requirements are fulfilled, including templates, barcodes, colour and manufacturing requirements.

• Ensuring best practice and adherence to operational procedures is maintained within the department.


Packaging Duties
• To advise technical and business constraints of printed packaging components for existing company products from design stage through to actual production.

• Actively participate in internal and external packaging change meetings. Pro-actively preparing and communicating project status to support implementation timings.

• Create artwork brief’s and effectively manage required steps with the Artwork Design Agency relating to technical requirements and timing constraints.

• Manage Packaging & Artwork Projects

Artwork Duties
• To assist in the progression of artwork by external agencies.

• Preparation of briefs taking into account the following points
o Component profiles
o Technical requirements of the packaging operation (equipment, etc.)
o Regulatory/Legal requirements
o House Style
o Commercial requirements (bar codes, ‘e’ marks, etc.)
o Marketing requirements (graphics, design layouts, colours, etc.)
o Security requirements (component numbers, Pharma bar codes, etc.)
o Relevant guide lines on font size, bar code specifications, etc.
o Progress chasing the delivery of the artwork.
o Checking the artwork before circulating the artwork for approval.

• Assist in the process of progressing artwork through the creation, updating, approval and issuing phases, including
o Preparation of job bags.
o Maintaining a data base showing the status of all artwork.
o Maintaining records of artwork changes for GMP compliance.

• To assist Artwork Technologist in issuing final artwork in a suitable format, ensuring that it conforms to the approved master artwork.

• Checking the final artwork (colour separations and composites) against the Block Proof.

• If the printer or affiliate subsequently amends the artwork before printing (addition of component number, security codes, etc.) checking and approving colour composites from the printer or affiliate.

• Check printers proofs to ensure conformity to the issued approved artwork. Proofs to be checked for text, layout, colours, bar code quality and erroneous print marks.

• Manage the EMPAD (Electronic Management of Plant Artwork Documents) with specific Manufacturing Plants.

Good standard of general education. GCSE passes in 5 subjects including English.
