Packaging Co-ordinator/Packaging Project Management – Food categories
Focussed on project management of pack changes & implementation of packaging innovation. Technical packaging skills an added requisite for the implementation of the business priority for a more environmental approach to packaging
? Reporting to Packaging Developer
What is the purpose of the job?
• To ensure the development & production of packaging to support new product development, product relaunches and range extensions across the category area.
• To ensure development of display outers/ straight on trays to support product display at POS.
What are you accountable for achieving?
? Packaging developed and produced on time.
? Cost effective production and delivery of all packaging (on brief and to budget).
? Accurate information (including brief and technical packaging briefs) and samples conveyed to the Design & Production Planning team.
? Artwork and Repro produced in line with the agreed critical path and budget across the category.
? Legal and Trading Standards compliance for packaging, copyright, trademark.
• Good working relationships with Design & Production Planning, product suppliers and printers.
• accurate & signed off pack copy information against supplied technical specification, prior to artwork generation.
What are you responsible for doing/What do you have to do?
• Setting, agreeing and managing the critical path to ensure packaging is delivered on time.
• Managing the approval of design, artwork and repro by the Product Developer.
? Initiating and controlling relevant aspects of packaging production.
• Managing the development of new pack construction & conduct travel test.
• Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of packaging innovation developments and communicate with product developers/technologists on opportunities for inclusion.
• Examine marketplace competition on packaging, maintaining the comparative shop information. Informing the team of any major newness.
• Managing the artwork approval process to ensure the relevant personnel see and approve the artwork at each stage to avoid re-work and additional costs.
• Managing the pre-production meeting and handover of design (including cutter guides) to artwork.
• Challenge and manage suppliers to deliver the required standards.
• Escalate any issues with sufficient time to the category team.
• Setting up, maintain and record accurate cost information
• Quality standards of print & packaging for all products on shelf across the category.
• Ensure store functionality – on shelf performance and carry home testing.
• Monitoring packaging impact on operational guidelines.
• Ensure agreed photography matches the brief given by the Product Developer.
• Build and maintain relationships with the product co-ordinator to ensure a seamless process.
