Job Description

 
  This role is based in Jiangsu, China (PRC)
Fluent English essential, Chinese an advantage/pref.

Responsibilities
The job holder will be responsible for the technical packaging activities in the development of products for new products range.

Project Management of specific packaging development projects
Coordination of feasibility studies on Marketing design proposals; in conjunction with internal and external development partners, e.g. Purchasing, Manufacturing, Distribution & agreed supplier partners.

Approval of all relevant technical component drawings.

Coordination, approval and reporting of all filling line & transit trials

Creation and maintenance of relevant packaging specifications.

Technical approval of finished components.

Coordination of packaging artworks and origination proof (“bromide”) approvals necessary to complete the development of their brand or product packaging.

Areas of Support

Marketing – the job holder will support the Category Marketing team in the creation of detailed packaging briefs; by supplying appropriate component options for material choice, shape, construction and decoration.

Purchasing – the job holder will support the Category Purchasing team through the preparation of accurate packaging information (specifications and benchmarks) for the purposes of obtaining quotations and the realisation of value engineering opportunities.

Manufacturing – the job holder will support the manufacturing and filling locations through the timely discussion of relevant new product and packaging developments and the inclusion of manufacturing requirements in the product specification to allow the most efficient integration of new products into the manufacturing facility and processes.

Distribution – the job holder will support the business distribution functions (warehousing and order picking) by ensuring that distribution requirements are suitably incorporated into the design and development of all new products and packaging.

Profile
The job holder should have a minimum of 2 years experience as a packaging developer in an appropriate New Product Development environment. Supported by a Degree (packaging, engineering or scientific subject) with a specialization in packaging.
