Responsiblities
• Support the business plans & goals, by ensuring that the business packaging component requirements are satisfied, via the introduction of cost effect & appropriately specified primary, secondary and tertiary packaging solutions.
• To provide an effective and efficient packaging development service as part of the Packaging Team, satisfying the requirements of key internal customers. (e.g. Sales / Marketing / Production / Purchasing).
• In relation to packaging, responsibility for driving customer accounts and packaging projects to ensure that all technical aspects are satisfied, at optimum cost, within the agreed timeframe.
KEY TASKS
• To ensure compliance on an individual basis to the Company and legislative health and safety policy, procedures, standards and regulations at all times.
• Identification and realisation of effective, functional, cost optimised, accurately specified packaging components to meet business requirements.
• Design / selection of packaging components, to ensure maximisation of production facilities.
• Decide and co-ordinate appropriate testing, evaluation and trialing of components. Identify and report subsequent further actions, against budget and time-scales.
• Ensure that all associated specifications, reports & records are completed fully, accurately and in timely manner, filed within the appropriate control systems.
• Account / project management - effectively prioritising work, to makes the best use of personal resource, providing ideas and solutions to ensure projects progress to their conclusion.
• Ensure that appropriate aspects of projects are communicated to all levels, in a clear & accurate manner.
• Identify & drive cost saving initiative projects.
• Liaison and management of external suppliers. Develop understanding of supplier abilities and challenge current limitations.
• Identification and implementation of opportunities for improvements, resolution to problems at the earliest opportunity.
•RELEVANT AND QUANTIFIABLE MEASURES
• The packaging aspects of new product launches are completed to the agreed standard, on time.
• Technical records, specifications and reports are available and right first time.
• Packaging specific projects (e.g. value engineering, continuous improvement) are completed to the agreed standard, on time.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND WORK SKILLS NEEDED
• Degree calibre
• IOP Diploma in Packaging Technology
• Sound knowledge & understanding of the technical aspects of a broad range of packaging components, machinery and manufacturing techniques.
• Understanding of relevant packaging legislation & industry standards.
• Understanding of the interaction of influence of packaging on production efficiencies and abilities.
• Proven project management skills, able to manage several complicated tasks simultaneously
• Able to successfully communicate and present both written & verbally, information to technical and non-technical individuals, internal and external.
• General commercial awareness.
• Competent MS Office user / experience of SAP.
