Salary £25-35k dependant on level of experience, 10% bonus, BUPA, money purchase pension scheme, 20% discount card & share save scheme
Reporting to the Brand Packaging & Design Manager. Based in the Category and Brand Marketing team, responsible for developing the packaging principles for structure and materials for Own Brand and Exclusives portfolio.
Responsible for ensuring that the principles are consistently adopted and are delivered at the right standard and cost, whilst ensuring that the ecological business objectives are met.
Liaise directly with key external expert bodies to ensure the business is at the forefront of packaging technology
Key responsibilities
• Develop packaging material / structure principles and guidelines for Own Brand and Exclusives which support the delivery of the design and brand positioning objectives
• Proactively support the execution of material/structure packaging principles across product categories ensuring packaging design objectives are maximised whilst managing cost
• Work with Buyers , QA and where relevant Vendors and Artwork production teams to ensure delivery to the correct standard and cost
• Work with the Packaging Technologists to ensure the correct brand quality indicators are delivered through pack structure and materials
• Support Packaging and Design Manager to deliver new industry leading packaging and design process
The successful candidate is likely
• To have expertise in technical development of packaging materials and structure
• To have experience in transit and distribution packaging
• To have experience of corrugated packaging
• To demonstrate expertise in Own brand packaging, preferably in a large retail environment
• To demonstrate expertise in leading edge packaging process for domestic and far east sourcing
• To have experience of delivering packaging design
• To have experience of working with external bodies and domestic and far east vendors
• To have the ability to develop simple and easy to understand, deliverable principles from a complex position
• To be a good communicator at all levels
• To have the ability to influence and engage at all levels
• To be a self starter with drive, motivation and determination to succeed
• To have an adaptable approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure
• To actively manage self development programme
• To be commercially aware of packaging costs
• To demonstrate understanding of how supply chains and distribution warehouses work
